We have spent the last few weeks learning about space, Neil Armstrong, The Sun and all things space related! 

We learned about the Apollo 11 mission of July 1969 and the Moon Landing. We watched videos about the Moon Landing, the mission and interviews with Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. The children then completed a project based around Neil and the Moon Landing. They created a Newspaper with images, information and facts about the topic. The Newspapers turned out so well.

We learned a bit about each of the planets in our Solar System. The children then made a diorama of the Solar System. They enjoyed painting and adding bits and bis they wanted to. They all turned out really well!! 

We read a picture book by Chris Hadfield, a real life Astronaut - "The Darkest Dark" which got us chatting about going to space and lead onto watching interviews from Chris about his time in space. 

And lastly, to wrap up all things Space, we watched the classic episode of Wallace and Gromit "A Grand Day Out" where they went to the moon. And as we all know the moon is made of cheese!!!! But the children do not seem to believe it!
