As a treat for all the hard work over the past number of weeks, the children got the chance to make some Oreo Milkshakes! "All the Worlds a Stage"This week the class were getting their dramatic side on (not that they actually need to !!!). We spent this week doing drama to be able to really get into our parts and make the short plays humorous. Each group were given their scripts - each group got the same script - and all had different takes on the same play. They did a table read of the script before staging the play or deciding on actions. Then they discussed with their group what they would do and how they would interact with one another during the play. They got great enjoyment out of it! A few movie stars in the making! Christmas ArtWe have had a busy month in Art. The children used chalk and black sugar paper to create a snow globe with a Christmas scene inside. We also made some origami Snowmen and Christmas trees. John F. KennedyLast month the children learned all about JFK and his Presidency of the United States during the 60s. The children had lots of questions about his life and learned so much as we covered various aspects of his life - from his childhood, family, marriage, his role as the most influential President. All the children completed a newspaper about his life and achievements. Drama through GaeilgeThe past two weeks the children have been working on the theme of Clothes in Irish linked in with Christmas! The children build up towards a short play based on what we covered this week. The children really got into it - putting on funny voices and just having a lot of fun with it! I think we may have a few comedians and movie stars in the making! ClayThe children were experimenting with Clay this week. They got the feel for the clay and then went on to make something out of the clay. The following week they painted their pieces. Chemical Reactions
This week we learned about Chemical Reactions that occur in the world.
We carried out an investigation (Lava Lamp experiment) to investigate a number of things. -Mixing Oil and Water. Will they mix? -Food colouring - will it react with the water and oil? -Chemical Reaction - Adding an Alka-Seltzer tablet to the bottle - what will occur? Have a look through the photos and vieos below of the investigation.
PaintingThis week the children have ben getting into the Halloween Spirit during Art. We looked at some paintings by some famous artists to gather some inspiration and at some Halloween images too. The focus of what we were doing was looking at blending colours together to create a colour effect. The children created some amazing paintings. |
