We would like to congratulate all the boys and girls from Coolanarney NS that took part in the Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie finals in St. Brendan's Park, Birr on Tuesday 23rd of May. Gortnamona, Mountbolus and ourselves combined to enter a hurling and camogie team and both teams were rewarded with silverware at the end of two very enjoyable matches. The camogie team defeated a very well balanced Mercy Primary School from Birr and the boys had to dig deep to claim victory in their match against the Birr Boy's School. The level of skill and tenacity on show during both finals was extremely admirable. The hooking and blocking we witnessed was a testament to the attitude and character of the players and both teams were very deserving victors on the day. We would like to thank Frances Keating and Donal Rigney for training the camogie team. We appreciate the time it takes after school to prepare the girls for days like this and we are grateful for all your hard work. A sincere thanks to Seamus Spain and anyone else who took charge of the boys this year. The way the boys played on the day of the final was a true reflection on the time and work that has gone into preparing them over the past number of months. Finally, a huge thank you to all the families and friends who came out in numbers to support the teams and help them over the line. It is greatly appreciated by all here in Coolanarney. Congratulations again and we hope you all enjoyed the celebrations! Congratulations to our 2nd class pupils who made their First Holy Communion on 6th May in Mountbolus Church. Each of the children had a role to play in the mass and they represented themselves, their families and their school so well. Their teacher, Ms. Flynn, couldn't fault how they prepared themselves for this sacrament and commends them for their efforts.
Well done and we hope you had a wonderful day with all your family and friends! |
