6th Class GraduationAnd just like that we say goodbye to another 6th class and a wonderful group of children. We have watched you grow over the past 8 years from the little Junior Infants you once were to the wonderful teenagers you are now. We have laughed, cried, joked, had fun and did a little bit of school work in there somewhere. We have done all we can do and now it is up to you to use what we've taught you to grow even more through secondary school and beyond. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you these past 8 years and we look forward to hopefully see you all again some day and see where you go. Best of luck in Secondary school and don't miss us too much! Today we had a visit from past pupil Tomas Carrol who played on the Offaly team in the Leinster Minor Football Championship Final. The match took place last month, 19 May, in Newbridge against Louth. The teams hard work paid off as they won the final.
Tomas came into the school today, with the Trophy, on his lunch break, to chat to the children about the match. He told the children to give it your all during any match, rely on your team mates and you have to train hard to achieve what you want. It is great to see so many past pupils doing so well in GAA over the past number of years. They are a true testament to their families, their fellow teammates, teachers and coaches. The children look up to these players and have made an impact on them - from all the great questions they asked Tomas. It's that time of year again - Sports Day! The children had an absolute blast this year and the weather held up great with the sun splitting the rocks! A big thank you to Ms. Gath for organising the day and to our 6th class for helping set up the station for the day and for also being excellent team leaders to their groups. And again, apologies for the mountain of photos - the children know me and how much I love taking photos and surprise photos. There are some nice action shots in it and the children being children! StationsRacesAisling Murphy Memorial FundWe want to thank the Aisling Murphy Memorial Fund for their generous donation to our school. This donation goes towards repairing our swing, getting a buddy bench for the school and for the purchase of musical instruments. =Taken from the Aisling Murphy Memorial Facebook page= We were delighted to recently support Coolanarney NS, Co. Offaly in adding to their school facilities and resources for the benefit of their school community. We were glad to support them in purchasing outdoor swings for children to relax on and enjoy gentle movement. A Buddy Bench was also purchased which will be in a special place in the playground where children can sit to show they are feeling lonely or would like someone to talk to. This simple but meaningful feature encourages empathy and invites other children to reach out and include them in play. We were also thrilled to provide additional musical instruments to enhance the school’s collection, helping to nurture creativity and a love of music among the pupils. Ashling spent eight cherished years at Coolanarney NS, where she is still fondly remembered by both staff and pupils. It is an honour for us to give back to this school community - so that children, just like Ashling, can enjoy a school experience filled with friendship, creativity, and joyful memories, which we hope they’ll carry with them throughout life. |
