In October, we had a wonderful trip around our local area to learn more about the history of our own area. We visited Pallas Park, saw Pallas lake and the remains of the stronghold of the O' Molloys.
We visited Killoughey cemetery and heard stories about the old church and of the people who were buried there. We visited St. Brigid's Church Mountbolus and learned of its building and the wonderful artefacts that can be seen there. We visited Ralehin cemetery and heard about the famine graves. We learned how The idle Corner got its name. We saw the coronation seat of the O'Molloys. It was a wonderful interesting trip around our own parish. Many thanks to Johnny Butterfield who accompanied us and shared his knowledge with us. Comments are closed.
