After working really well this year, 1st class had the chance to put what they have learned this year into some fun activities on the tablets. A big congratulations to our 2nd Class who made their First Communion last Saturday in Mountbolus Church.
A big thank you to Fr. Meade, who guided the children on their journey to this day. To Ms. Gath and Ms. Fogarty, who prepared them with their readings and prayers. To Ms. Killeen who provided the music on the day and to everyone who played a part in the children's preparation for this day. St. BrigidWe have been learning about St. Brigid the past few weeks. We learned about where she grew up, some of the kinds thing she did throughout her life, the story of her cloak and the story behind the St. Brigid's Cross. Merry Christmas from the Middle Room!We have been busy in the Middle Room the past few weeks getting ready for Christmas. We have been learning about the Birth of Jesus in Religion. In Art, we painted these lovely Robins on a tree winter scene. They turned out so well. On the day of the Christmas holidays were wore in out Christmas jumpers and were given a small treat of sweets, crisps and a drink from Tom Doolan. Always so generous to the school. Thank You Tom! Happy Christmas from the Middle RoomThe boys and girls in the Middle have been learning to sing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and play "Jingle Bells" on the tin Whistle. See their amazing performances below. Capital Letters and Lowercase Letters Matching1st Class have been learning about Capital Letters and Lowercase Letters this week. We explored the whole alphabet and their sounds. Then the children played a matching activity where they matched the capital letter to the lowercase letter. To wrap up my time with 4th class for Maths this year, we decided to use everything we have learned in Maths this year and explored the school years on a Maths Trail. 3D ShapeThis past week we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have learned about their properties such as their faces, edges, corners. The different types of pyramids and what a prism is. To wrap up everything we have learned in 3D shape (and 2D shape) the children had to make a certain 3D shape out of the magnets. |
