Athletics FinalOn Wednesday 17 May, a number of boys and girls represented the school in the county wide Athletics final in the Harriers in Tullamore. We had the regional competition in Ferbane last week and those children who placed in their races made their way to Tullamore today to compete against a number of other children from school across the county. It was a great day and we had a number of winners in the school. Congratulations to everyone who took part and represented the school so well. Regional Athletics CompetitionYesterday, all the children from 1st to 4th class travelled to Ferbane for the last of the regional Athletics competition. A number of other schools were there too and over 100 children. It was an excellent day and everyone enjoyed it. In the weeks before Easter, the children had an Athletics coach come to the school to practise various races and events in preparation for the day. We had children run in 50m, 100m 300m races, relay races and the shot put. We had a number of children from the school place in their races and will now move onto the finals in the Harriers in Tullamore next Wednesday 10th May. Congratulations to our winners and well done to all the children for representing the school so well. And big thank you and well done to the organisers for an enjoyable day. Credit Union QuizCongratulations to both of our quiz teams who performed so well during the Credit Union Quiz last week. You have all done our school proud. And a big thank you to class teachers, Ms. Gath and Ms. Flynn for preparing both teams. A big congratulations to our children who participated on the Killoughy Schools Badminton team. You have represented Coolanarney and Killoughy well. We also want to thank Judy Bryant for dedicating her time to train and encourage our team. Well Done to everyone involved! Have a read of the match reports below for a full details of the matches!
In the first term of the school year (Sept-Oct 2022) the children in 5th and 6th class took part in the Cumman na mBunscoil competition. The boys and girls performed really well in the competition. They developed their football skills and showed such great teamwork. The children got all the way to the final but unfortunately we didn't win. However, that shouldn't take away from the great achievement, hard work and dedication to the game. Congrats to the children and a big thank you to Ms. Flynn for training and guiding the children. Christmas Show 2022Last night the boys and girls gave excellent performances at the Christmas Show. The children have spent the last few weeks practising their lines, singing the songs and learning the actions. Thy put in so much hard work and it really showed last night. We are so proud of each and every one of them. The boys and girls in the Junior Room performed "Snowman at Sunset" and the children in the middle and senior rooms performed "Hosanna Rock!". And for the grand finale all the children gathered on stage for some performances on the tin-whistles and the boomwhackers and a few final Christmas songs to get us all in the Christmas Spirit! The children hit their marks, sung beautifully and they really enjoyed themselves! And a special thank you to Ms. Killeen for all the hard work she put in with the children and to Joe for setting up the sound system and to the hall committee for the use of the hall. Without their support we wouldn't be able to put on this wonderful show! And a special thank you and well done to the staff who encouraged the children to give it their all and their continued guidance - the show wouldn't be possible without them. Christmas Raffle Thank YouSincere thanks to everyone who generously supported our Christmas Raffle and helped raise over €700 to defray costs of school shows.
