Coolanarney National School have been very well represented at both the Kilcormac Credit Union Quiz and the Tullamore Credit Union Quiz which were held on Fri 27th of January and Fri 3rd of February respectively. After holding an in-house quiz to determine the contestants that would take part, a junior and senior team were entered in both competitions. In the Kilcormac Credit Union Quiz, our senior team emerged victorious with our junior team placing second. In the Tullamore Credit Union Quiz, our junior team placed first in their category with the senior team putting in another very strong performance. Both teams now can look forward to competing in the next stage of their competitions which will take place in the coming weeks. We are extremely proud of how hard our students worked in preparing for the quiz and how they conducted themselves at each event. From all the staff and students in the school, we would like to congratulate you and wish you all the best in the next round of the competition. As part of the Operation Transformation initiative to encourage children to become more active, all children in Coolanarney took part in the 10 @ 10 challenge. This initiative required children to take ten minutes out of the school day, at ten o'clock, to take part in various exercises. So, on Friday 10th February, we all gathered outside and Ms. Flynn took the children through some simple exercises for ten minutes with very short breaks in between. The children enjoyed being outdoors and doing the various exercises and it was great to see such red faces marching back into the classrooms! |
