HurlingWe have been practising for the Cumman na mBunscol hurling the past few weeks. The children have been putting a lot of hard work practising and further developing their hurling skills. We have Luke here with us every Thursday whipping us all into shape. And we had Daithi Feighery here too giving a hand with training and with the matches. A big thank you to both of them for giving their time. Once Upon a Time...Over the past number of week the children have been practising their given fairy-tale. Each class was given a script and they had to put their own spin on it. They could change lines, add lines, make it as funny as they wished to. They all came up with some great ideas and put on great short plays for the rest of the class. Initials ArtIn Art, the children had to make a plaque with their initials on it. They make the back of their clay piece and then made their initials out of the rest of the clay. Some make small images that related to their life and interests. Many waited until they were painting their names to paint images of interests. Great BritainWe have been learning about Great Britain these past few weeks. We learned about some of the history, famous monuments, places to visit, food, culture and much more, The children then designed their own brochures detailing people, foods and places to visit (even Peppa Pig land got a mention!). Breaking down DNA!Today we had Patricia Kolton from Maynooth University come to visit the school and did some great experiments with the children. The Senior Room learned about DNA and breaking down DNA. As you can see they were suited and booted for the task. A big thank you to Patricia for coming in - the children really enjoyed the experiment. Budding Scientists in the making!! |
