Senior Tour to Navan Adventure CenterThis year the Middle and Senior rooms went to Navan Adventure Center where the children got to do loads of different outdoor activities. From Laser Tag to Football Golf to an Obstacle Course there was not a lull in the day. The rain held off for most of the day apart from one or two big showers which didn’t put a downer on the day. On the way home we stopped off at Supermacs in the Kinnegad Plaza where the children were well fed and hyped up on sugar too! It was a brilliant tour and everyone seemed to go home happy! A big congratulations from everyone in the school community on this major achievement. The boys and girls must be commended for their teamwork, their respect towards the other team and the way they represented the school. They gave every match their all throughout the competition and showed great sportsmanship. A big thank you to Ms. Flynn for all the hard work and dedication she put into training the children and organising the matches. And a thank you to the parents too, who brought children to matches. Your help is very much appreciated. The future of hurling is strong in the parish! The next day, the team, and the rest of the school, were treated to hot food from Tom Doolans. The team got food boxes each and the rest of the children in the school got a platter of chips, sausages and chicken to share amongst their class. A big thank you to Tom Doolan for the lovely treats - they went down a treat! You have always been so good to the children and to the school. It is very much appreciated. Congratulations to our 5th and 6th Class boys!Congratulations to our 5th and 6th boys who won the county final in the FAI 5 a-side in Leah Victoria Park and made it, for the first time in the school’s history, to the Mid-Leinster stage of the competition.
This took place in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare on 28th April and the boys performed admirably and were not far away from qualifying. We are all so proud of their achievement! Well done boys! And a big thank you to Ms. Flynn for her hard work in preparing and training the boys for the competition. And a big thank you to the parents who brought the boys to both Leah Victoria and to Kilcullen - without your generosity and support none of this would be possible. Congratulations to 6th classCongratulations to our 6th Class pupils who made their Confirmation this week.
We would like to thank Bishop Tom Deenihan for presiding over the ceremony and for making it a really special day for our 6th class children and all other children making their Confirmation too. A big thank you to Fr. Meade and Ms. Flynn for preparing you for so well and to Ms. Killeen for providing the music for the ceremony. We hope you had a wonderful day and that the bad weather did not dampen the celebrations. VEX Robotics Competition 2026
Over the past number of months the children in the Senior Room have been putting in a lot of time and hard work into preparing for the VEX Robotics Regional Event (Offaly). The children put in great work and came up with great ideas, strategies and worked so well together.
The children performed very well on the day of the competition - placing in 8th place overall which is a great achievement. The children represented the school and themselves really well showing great teamwork and playership towards the other teams. And most of all they enjoyed the day. We would like to say a big Thank You to Offaly County Council for facilitating the VEX Robotics competition in Offaly and for supplying the resources to the school. Also we would like to thank Ray Bell and Dean Hodge, who are the STEM officers in Offaly County Council, who lead the initiative and give a lot of their time, their knowledge and assistance to the schools. It is very much appreciated. And finally, with the ever changing world around us, with technology becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives, the VEX robotics competition gives the children the knowledge and understanding of how things around us work. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths all make up the area of STEM, which is currently being phased in as a curricular area within Primary Schools across the country. So, the VEX Robotics gives the children in the Senior Room that opportunity to engage with STEM in both an educational, enjoyable and competitive way. Photos from the CompetitionPreparing for the CompetitionSciencefest in CNCThe Senior Room had a very enjoyable day in Colaiste Naomh Cormac attending their Sciencefest day! The children got to see lots science experiments being carried out and also got to try out some experiments themselves! A big thank you to CNC for inviting us and well done on a spectacular day! To warp up their time in 4th Class, the children put all their knowledge from the past year into use on the yard during a Maths Trail. 3D ShapeThis week 4th class have been exploring 3D Shape. We played around with cubes and given a certain number of cubes to try make a bigger cube with all the smaller ones provided. Countdown to the CompetitionWe've been busy since Christmas getting ready for the Robotics Competition at the beginning of February.
