During Science week, we researched, created and presented projects celebrating women in Science. The children enjoyed learning about scientists that they hadn't learned about previously. The children created their displays and the project also included an art element. We had fantastic drawings, clay sculptures and mixed-media art. This year Coolanarney will be taking part in an Offaly wide competition the "VEX Robotics" competition. It is an exciting programme integrating maths, science, technology, coding and problem solving. The resources - the playing field and two robots - are supplied by the Offaly County Council. The children have to build a robot to play the game and use their problem solving skills to score as many points as possible. We are in the stages of constructing the playing field and building the robot to play the game. Keep an eye on the website for some images and videos of how we are getting on! We have been learning about 2D Shapes and graphing information the last few weeks in Maths. |
